The Peter Corigliano, IV Memorial Fund was established at the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties by the family of nine-year-old Peter, who passed away in September 2025. The fund is dedicated to helping children and families dealing with complex medical conditions, with a special focus on congenital heart defects, by providing support to ease the burden of care, provide comfort, and offer hope—giving every child the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the challenges they face on their health journey.

Peter was charismatic, had a contagious smile and a heart of gold. He had impeccable comedic timing and made everyone laugh. His dream was to become a doctor, and at his young age he had already been appointed as an honorary member of the Woods Valley Jr. Ski Patrol where he could regularly be found chatting with the team in the patrol room.

While Peter is remembered for having many hobbies, including building with Legos, skiing, swimming, playing doctor with his stuffed animals, and spending hours in the snow, the activity that he held most dear was spending time with friends and family.

The bond Peter shared with his family resonates in the creation of this fund and will live on through the impact it will have on other local families.

“Despite his medical journey, Peter was always brave, courageous, and hopeful while remaining present to find joy and playfulness in each day,” said Ashley Corigliano, Peter’s mother. “Our main goal for his fund is to support families with a child with complex medical needs and help them to experience some financial relief, whether it be paying off some medical bills or taking a family vacation. Our family knows all too well that you are never guaranteed time, and our hope is that Peter’s spirit will live on for years to come through this fund and any potential events that might come out of it.”
