The Community Foundation welcomes submissions from 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, publicly supported organizations such as schools and municipalities, and organizations using a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Submissions from organizations located in or serving Herkimer or Oneida counties are preferred.

Submissions are accepted through the Community Foundation’s Grant Application Portal. All requests are reviewed by Community Foundation staff for appropriateness and eligibility verification before being published. The Community Foundation makes every effort to connect donors and fundholders with programs and projects they may be interested in supporting but there is no guarantee that submissions will be funded.

No! We know that organizations may have multiple efforts going on at one time that may require support, therefore, there is no cap on how many submissions an organization may include in the Giving Guide. All submissions will be reviewed and posted routinely to the guide.

There is no minimum dollar amount, but the maximum dollar amount per submission is $2,500. Total project budget should not exceed $10,000 to ensure Giving Guide contributions help fill a meaningful funding gap.

After 90 days, any needs that have not been fully funded will automatically drop off the list. You may choose to re-submit once that happens.

Funds will be distributed by the Community Foundation via check once a project is fully funded. If a project is partially funded, any contributions received will be distributed at the end of the 90-day posting period.

Yes! The online submission form will be available and active all year long.

The Mohawk Valley Giving Guide serves as a bridge between your organization and donors, fundholders, and community members who may choose to support your work. While submitting an opportunity increases visibility, it does not guarantee that the request(s) will be funded. We do encourage that organizations consider sharing and promoting their funding opportunities once they are live on the Giving Guide.

The minimum credit card donation amount is $10. You may choose to fully fund an opportunity in the Giving Guide or you can contribute an amount of your choosing to partially fund it.

Yes, multiple submissions can be supported in one transaction by adding your donations to your shopping cart. 

The easiest way to give through the Mohawk Valley Giving Guide is online via a credit or debit card. 

Donations to a specific program or project in the Giving Guide can also be made by check. Please make checks payable to the Community Foundation. In the memo line, be sure to include “Giving Guide” along with the specific funding opportunity you wish to support.

Community Foundation Donor-Advised fundholders and Charitable Checking account holders can also make grants right from the Fundholder Portal to support submissions featured on the Giving Guide.

For credit card donations, a tax receipt will be sent automatically to the email you provide as soon as the donation is made. For check donations, a tax receipt will be mailed via USPS once the check is received and processed.

No, you do not need to create an account to make an online donation through the Mohawk Valley Giving Guide.

Yes, but you can choose to make your gift anonymously if you’d prefer.
