
LIVINGSTON ELECTED CHAIR OF COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BOARD, KAHLER RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE, MATT AND SWEET ELECTED TO THE BOARD, THREE NAMED TRUSTEES EMERITI
John J. Livingston of Clinton, partner in the law firm of Getnick, Livingston, Atkinson, Gigliotti & Priore, LLP, was elected as board chair of The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. at the organization’s 2007 annual meeting held today (Wednesday, May 2) at the Yahundasis Golf Club in New Hartford.
Georgiana Roberts Ide of New Hartford was elected chair-elect and Timothy D. Foley of Old Forge was re-elected as secretary-treasurer.
Camille T. Kahler of Rome, partner in the law firm of Saunders, Kahler, Amoroso & Locke LLP, retired from the board and was recognized for 10 years of service, which included two as board chair. Anthony C. Paolozzi of Whitesboro also retired from the board after serving for six years.
Susan G. Matt of New Hartford, community volunteer, and Judith (Judy) Vicks Sweet of Clinton, chief financial officer of Strategic Investment Advisors, Inc., were elected to the board of trustees.
Returning to the board were: George F. Aney of Herkimer, Milton J. Bloch of Clinton, Larry Bull of Herkimer, Don Carbone of Boonville, Rudy D’Amico of Marcy, Harrison Hummel III of Mohawk, Robert F. Julian of Utica, Linda Macartney of Clinton, Theodore C. Max M.D. of Holland Patent, Albert Mazloom of Utica, Mary F. Morse of Ilion, Faye Short of Utica, Sheila Smith of New Hartford, William R. Stevens of Rome and Richard Zick of Rome.
Three past board members were designated trustees emeriti posthumously, recognizing the length and impact of the service they rendered.
Elizabeth Prescott Balch, a native of Rome, was an original incorporator and served as a trustee from 1952-1968. She was active on many local boards and in numerous community activities. In addition, she was married to Richard Balch, president of the Horrocks-Ibbotson Company.
Kenneth W. Fuller served as a board member from 1962-1977. He chaired the screening committee from 1969-1977 and was a local attorney.
Walter J. Matt was a board member from 1954-1973. He also served on The Foundation’s first grants committee and was President of the F.X. Matt Brewing Company.
Commemorating its 55th anniversary this year, The Community Foundation has been a force for improving lives and promoting philanthropy throughout Herkimer and Oneida counties since 1952. The Foundation has made more than 3,500 grants totaling over $24.5 million in support of causes ranging from education to health care, the arts to the environment. Grants are generated by the more than 230 funds that comprise The Foundation’s endowment, established and advanced by area individuals and families.
