NEW SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE FOR GRADUATE OF JARVIS HIGH SCHOOL
A new scholarship is available to a graduate of Gregory B. Jarvis Junior/Senior High School. Students planning to attend an accredited two or four-year college, university or technical school are eligible. This scholarship is made possible by members of the Class of 1977, who created a scholarship fund at The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties.
In discussing the scholarship, Mark Woroby, member of the class of 1977 and now executive director of the Wildwood Foundation in Schenectady, said, "Our class reunion provided a great opportunity to reunite with long-time friends and reminisce about some great memories. At the same time, our reunion gave our class an opportunity to look to the future and consider giving something back to our alma mater.
“Thanks to the generosity of classmates, we have established an endowed fund through The Community Foundation that will serve as a legacy for our class.
“We are very excited to be introducing a new scholarship to the Mohawk Central School District this year. In conjunction with the Community Foundation’s investment expertise, my personal hope is that contributions will continue to be made by classmates, family and friends, so that this scholarship will continue to grow larger each year."
Students who show promise and potential, and who have unmet financial need may contact the guidance office at Gregory B. Jarvis Junior/Senior High School to apply for this $450.00 scholarship.
Contributions to the fund may be sent to The Community Foundation, 1222 State Street, Utica, NY 13502. The check should include a note that the donation is for the MCSD Class of 1977 Scholarship Fund. For additional information about the fund, please call The Community Foundation at 735-8212.
