OLD FORGE, NY – The Town of Webb Fund, a donor-advised fund of The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, is making grants totaling $25,500 to 14 organizations that serve Town of Webb community members.
The Town of Webb Fund directs its assets exclusively to organizations serving the Town of Webb, and appeals to the charitable interests of part-time (seasonal) residents who represent nearly 75 percent of the town’s residents. The fund is designed to fill a gap, recognized in most resort communities, where year-round and seasonal residents require more services than the year-round community alone is able to provide.
“These organizations provide a variety of necessary services for the Town of Webb, several of which are specific to the area,” noted Peggy O’Shea, president and CEO of The Community Foundation. “That seasonal residents choose to support and invest in these organizations is a testament to the character of the town and its citizens.”
The 2008 grantees represent such diverse areas as health care, the arts, media and youth, to name a few. This year’s recipients are:
